Chapel of the Holy Cross, Sedona

We visited a Roman Catholic Church, The Chapel of the Holy Cross in Sedona. It was built in the 1950s as a memorial to Marquerite Brunswig Staude's parents. Marguerite Staude was studying art in New York City when she decided to design a church. She showed the plans to Lloyd Wright, son of Frank Lloyd Wright. The Chapel is atop a red rock to the south of the city of Sedona.
Bright Angel Trail

From the Bright Angel Trail which descends 4 5000 feet in 7.8 miles to the Colorado River we saw hikers and mules. We saw them as little dots on the trail far below. For centuries the Hopi Indians used this trail route which has two great advantages - water and access. A reliable spring emerges at Indian Garden and a natural break in the cliffs provides access.
Hermit's Rest

From the Hopi Point we went to Mohave Point, next - to The Abyss, Pima Point and ended our tour at Hermit's Rest. Around 1891 a Canadian-born prospector Louis Boucher stalked claims below presently Hermit's Rest. With help, he carved a trail into the Canyon and for years lived alone at Dripping Springs. He has been described as a kind, gentle soul.
